Can Trump Defy the Israel Lobby?

John Mearsheimer is the author of “The Israel Lobby” (2006) which exposed the power of the Israel Lobby. He has been completely vindicated. Israel has controlled US foreign policy for sixty years and gotten us into every disastrous war in West Asia in pursuit of their racist, colonial and genocidal policies that are inherent in Zionism and were from the beginning. However, I think he may not appreciate that this power is waning in the face of the American people’s understanding and resentment of Israel’s power over the United States and all the trouble this has caused our country that Mearsheimer himself deserves great credit for exposing. Now Trump has gotten himself into a pickle by letting the Zionists drag him into a losing war. He is desperate to find a way out as the economic disaster and inflation caused by the closing of the Strait of Hormuz, which is happening and getting worse as the November elections approach. For the last several months he has been stalling, alternately saying a “deal” with Iran is imminent and then saying that he is going to bomb the shit out of them, as his family gets rich from the resulting market swings. But he cannot keep doing this much longer. He has to get the Strait of Hormuz back open, and he can’t do it by military means. Iran is just too strong defensively, and Russia and China are on their side. He has no choice other than to get out of West Asia, and he doesn’t need a “deal” to do it. Nobody trusts a word he says anyway. What counts is only his actions. What he must do is get out of West Asia and blame Israel for lying us into a losing war. That could be the first time he has ever spoken the truth. But this time he can actually back up his words with actions, by getting his military forces out of the region, cutting off all military and financial aid to Israel, and voting with the rest of the world to condemn Israel in the United Nations. Mearsheimer seems to think this will never happen because of the power of the Lobby. But it seems to me that Trump has no other way out.
