Horgan sees Cork upsides despite Munster final setback
Former Cork hurler Patrick Horgan feels Ben O'Connor's side still have plenty to be positive about despite falling short in the Munster Hurling final at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
The Mick Mackey Cup and provincial bragging rights went to the victorious Limerick by the slimmest of margins on Sunday.
But Cork will still harbour dreams of lifting the Liam MacCarthy Cup and next up will be a quarter-final against Offaly in two weeks.
Speaking on The Sunday Game, Horgan still sees areas to be satisfied with even though the Munster title slipped from their grasp.
"From a Cork point of view, it was good to see Dudzy back," he said in reference to Diarmuid Healy.
"They'll have their captain back for the All-Ireland series which is a major boost for them as well.
"There's a lot of things, yes, they could work on today. But overall I think they'll be happy with the effort they showed for the day and there's still plenty of hurling to be played yet and I'm sure we'll see them nearer the end of the championship as well."
Meanwhile, Anthony Daly agreed that Cork's defeat was a setback but still believes the Rebels and Limerick are heading the pack as the All-Ireland series gets set to begin.
"A slight one yeah," he said.
"But a lot of people did say coming into the game that maybe the easier route was to lose.
"Nobody tried to lose, I will totally testify after watching and witnessing what they went through.
"But you would expect that they would get over their quarter-final. Offaly have really improved (and) Galway were good yesterday.
"Clare and Dublin are in the equation. Are these two (Cork and Limerick) very far ahead of the posse?
"You wouldn't know on today's game. Conditions were so bad. But at the same time could this fifth incredible meeting in the one year unfold? Maybe it will."
