Armagh convincingly beat Derry to earn place in round 2A as Oak Leafers disappoint
Armagh took on Ulster rivals Derry today in their All-Ireland series opener at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds.The Orchardmen knew that their celebrations would be short-lived after winning their first Ulster Championship in 18 years.Ciarán Meenagh’s charges travelled to the Cathedral city in the hope of repeating the last time Meenagh was in charge of a Derry side against Armagh.Derry’s last provincial final triumph came in 2023, when Meenagh led the Oak Leafers to a win via a penalty shoot-out, the first of three Ulster finals Armagh would lose before getting that monkey off their back.The last time these two sides played each other was last year at the same stage, when Derry travelled to the same venue in the round-robin, with Armagh coming out on top despite a late push from their opponents.The winner of this tie will join Donegal, Galway, Cork and Tyrone in round 2A of the All-Ireland Football Championship, with the loser joining the likes of Meath, Kerry, Roscommon and Kildare in round 2B.Follow below for live score updates and analysis from our sports team.
