Nepal faces Iran in CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship semifinals today
KATHMANDU: The CAVA Women’s Volleyball Championship matches continue in Kathmandu today with the tournament’s top four teams competing in the semifinal round.
In the first matchup scheduled for 2:30 PM at the Dasharath Rangasala Covered Hall in Tripureshwar, Group A winner and defending champion India will play against Group B runner-up Kazakhstan, the highest-ranked team in the competition.
The second semifinal, starting at 5:00 PM at the same venue, features host country Nepal, the runner-up of Group A, playing against Group B winner Iran, who enters the round undefeated after winning all group stage matches in straight sets.
The performance history between the remaining teams points to a competitive final phase.
While India won all three of its group matches, Kazakhstan advanced with two wins and one loss.
Meanwhile, Nepal and Iran share an even record from their previous matchups during the 2024 tournament in Kathmandu, where each team secured one victory against the other.
The two winning teams from today’s matches will advance to the final on Friday, with the tournament winner earning qualification for the upcoming Asian Cup.
