Rep. Christian Menefee defeated fellow Democratic Rep. Al Green in Tuesday’s primary runoff election in a redrawn Houston-area district. The 38-year-old lawmaker, who won a special election earlier this year, bested his 78-year-old counterpart, who was seeking a 12th term in Congress. Rep. Green opted to run in the newly drawn 18th District after his own district was carved up in Republicans’ mid-decade gerrymandering push. Rep. Menefee will face Republican Ronald Whitfield in the November general election in the heavily blue district. See more results at c-span.org/election #christianmenefee #algreen #election2026 #cspan
