He remains hospitalized.According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, a deputy tried to pull over a speeding Toyota pickup on Rogue River Highway around 10:39 p.m. Sunday, May 17. The truck sped away heading east toward the city of Rogue River at high speed.The sheriff's office stopped chasing the truck before reaching city limits because of safety concerns. A Rogue River police officer deployed spike strips and disabled the truck.Barber kept driving and entered Interstate 5 going the wrong way. He drove northbound in the southbound lanes before crashing head-on into an oncoming SUV.Both cars were totaled. The other driver suffered minor injuries.Jackson County Fire District 1 and American Medical Response medics arrived to pull Barber from the wreckage and transport him to the hospital.
