TECNO and Lonely Planet Launch Shot On CAMON Contest 2026 in the Philippines
TECNO and Lonely Planet have Launched the Shot On CAMON Contest 2026, the third edition of TECNO’s annual global photography competition, with a focus on authentic storytelling using mobile photography. With the theme of “Seeing is Believing,” it invites smartphone users around the world to capture real-life moments using the TECNO CAMON 50 Series, while also opening special opportunities for Filipino creators through a local award program.
This brings together TECNO’s imaging technology and Lonely Planet’s travel storytelling expertise, designed to move the contest beyond just technology and more towards the people, places, and stories that’s behind each image. Three Lonely Planet photographers will contribute original images shot using the CAMON 50 Series, and one Lonely Planet photographer will join TECNO’s imaging team on the final-round jury panel.
Seeing Real Life Through the Lens
The contest runs from May 15 to October 11, 2026, with the theme aiming to celebrate the authenticity of everyday life with AI increasingly shaping creative work. TECNO highlighted real-world observation, diverse skin tones, fleeting emotions, and unrepeatable moments as central to the competition’s identity. Even the AI category begins with an actual photograph, which reinforces the contest’s focus on starting from real-life scenes before transforming them artistically.
Lonely Planet Vice President of Integrated Marketing Melissa Killian said great photos are not just about equipment, but about how deeply a photographer can immerse themselves in a destination. She added that TECNO’s technology helps users stay present, observe more closely, and capture meaningful moments as they happen.
Local Ambassador and Filipino Focus
TECNO Philippines has also named Kelvinmarkulit as the official CAMON Photography Ambassador for the Philippine leg of the contest. The Filipino visual storyteller, known for raw and unfiltered depictions of everyday life, will help rally creators through a call-out video, serve as a regional judge, and join the winner’s journey.
The company also introduced the Filipino Special Award for Philippine participants. This local extension allows users in the Philippines to submit either images or videos. Image entries follow the standard contest format, while video submissions through Instagram, Facebook Reels, and TikTok are informal entries that are not eligible for global awards but will automatically be considered for the Filipino Special Award.
