A weather expert has promised that warmer weather is ‘still looking likely’ for the final two weeks of the month.
The coming weekend is looking to be unsettled, with the national forecaster predicting rain and showers ‘each day’ next week.
There hasn’t been much cold there, but wouldn’t it be nice for a bit of sun?

He said: ‘Europe is also anticipated to warm up as we approach the last 2 weeks of May.
‘We could see temperatures climbing into the mid-20s by next weekend and into the following week.’
While it may not be heatwave temperatures as of yet, as Met Éireann previously explained an actual heatwave is ‘five days above 25C’ it will be welcome just in time for the June Bank Holiday.
The coming days are looking to be full of sunny spells and scattered showers, with Met Éireann forecasting some thundery hail on Thursday.
The forecaster added that conditions will be dry on Thursday night, leading to a mix of sunny spells and well scattered showers on Friday.
On Saturday, rain will become more persistent and push west and southwest early on in the day, before spreading eastwards across the country.
By evening time, there will be a clearance to sunny spells and isolated showers, with rain in the east clearing early on Sunday night.
Sunday is looking to be largely dry to start, but it forecast to turn cloudier in the afternoon with more widespread showers spreading from the west.
Some of these may turn heavy with isolated thunderstorms a possibility.
In positive news, Met Éireann say conditions will turn warmer on Tuesday with longer dry spells a potential towards the end of the working week.
