Netflix Orders New TV Shows From Margot Robbie, Kim Kardashian, & More

Netflix has renewed a bunch of shows and is also ordering a ton of new projects, including new shows from Kim Kardashian, Margot Robbie, and more. During their upfront presentation this week, Netflix unveiled a litany of new projects. First up, Netflix ordered a new show, The Retrievals, from Molly Smith Metzler, creator of projects Maid and Sirens. The show, which is being developed in part with LuckyChap (Margot Robbie‘s banner), is new series, and will see Metzler serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner, and is described as a drama. The show will adapt a Peabody Award-winning podcast of the same name by Susan Burton, and follow “one woman’s crusade against Yale Fertility Center after she (and almost 100 other women) were operated on without anesthesia during IVF egg retrieval procedures — because a nurse stole their fentanyl.” Elsewhere, Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen will serve as showrunner of a new series titled Calabasas from the streamer. The series comes from Van Dusen, as well as executive producers Kim Kardashian, Alexandra Milchan and Emma Roberts. The series is part of Van Dusen’s overall deal with Netflix, and is inspired by the book If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous By Now by Via Bleidner. The series follows an elite private school in Calabasas, where “the headmaster’s ambitious daughter is destined to have it all – until she’s swept into a forbidden romance with the one boy determined to burn down her glittering world instead of play by its rules. In Calabasas, where desires are never as clean as appearances suggest, falling in love might be the most dangerous rebellion of all.” Netflix has also greenlit a brand new drama, Myron Bolitar, from Emmy winner David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies) and Kyle Long (Suits), who will write, executive produce, and co-showrun the show. The show is a part of Netflix’s partnership with author Harlan Coben, and will follow an NBA star who reinvents himself as a sports agent, while also exploring the high-stakes world of sports. In the world of comedy, Netflix is also greenlighting two more specials for comedian Mike Epps. According to Deadline, the specials are set to release in 2028 and 2030. Finally, Netflix is also making a docuseries on the life of Nick Cannon, which will explore how he juggles his life as a father of 12. According to Variety, the series will premiere sometime in the winter.
