UAE travellers favour Maldives, Thailand and Europe for Eid Al Adha 2026 holiday - Arabian Business: Latest News on the Middle East, Real Estate, Finance, and More

UAE travellers are choosing international holidays over staycations for the Eid Al Adha break, with the Maldives, Thailand, Greece, France and Mauritius ranking among the most booked destinations, according to dnata Travel. International trips account for 72 per cent of dnata Travel bookings for the holiday period, compared with 28 per cent for UAE staycations. Indian Ocean destinations continue to lead demand, with the Maldives, Phuket in Thailand and Mauritius among the most popular choices. dnata Travel said the trend is being driven by favourable weather, resort options and competitive holiday offers. Greece is also gaining momentum, including Athens and the islands, alongside France, as travellers look for culture, relaxation and multi-stop itineraries. Meerah Ketait, Head of Retail and Leisure UAE at dnata Travel, said: “Eid Al Adha continues to prove a popular travel period for UAE residents, and this year we’re seeing clear demand for international travel, with customers looking to maximise the longer break through well-planned, multi-stop itineraries, and premium experiences. At the same time, value remains front of mind without compromising the overall experience, reflected in a rise in premium economy bookings and strong demand for competitive offers. “As UAE travellers focus on the ever-popular Indian Ocean islands, Thailand, and Europe continues, residents are increasingly open to emerging and alternative destinations. Interest is rising in locations such as Sarajevo, Bodrum, and lesser-discovered Greek islands, as well as more curated, experience-led itineraries.” In the UAE, Dubai accounts for around 70 per cent of staycation bookings, supported by competitive rates across the city’s hotel sector. Abu Dhabi continues to attract domestic travellers seeking stays close to entertainment and cultural attractions. Ras Al Khaimah is also seeing increased demand as a value-led staycation destination, particularly for all-inclusive resort options in areas such as Al Marjan Island. dnata Travel is currently offering Eid Al Adha holiday packages across several destinations.
