Danish ship transporting tonnes of weapons to Israel

A Danish-flagged ship is on its way to Israel – and will pass through Spanish waters – carrying tonnes of weapons for Israel Defence Forces supplier Elbit Systems.Global logistics firm DSV, whose Irish offices were targeted this week by Palestine Action Éire, arranged the shipment of Indian-made munitions. Cabo Verde authorities denied harbour to another H Folmer & Co ship last year after The Ditch reported it was transporting munitions to Israel.The Danica Violet is off the coast of West Africa and is due to dock at Cabo Verde early next week before continuing its journey to Haifa.The ship owned by Danish firm H Folmer & Co left India’s Chennai Port on 28 March this year and will need to pass through Spanish territorial waters later this month to reach Israel.The EU-registered vessel is delivering 60 tonnes of missile components and a container of artillery gun barrels to the Elbit Systems plant in Yokneam, Israel. A further 70 tonnes of uncategorised defence components are being delivered to Elbit’s factory in Ramat Hasharon.DSV managed both weapons shipments. It's Elbit’s main logistics partner.Palestine Action Éire activists carried out an action at the Danish company’s Cork facility this week over its links to the Israeli arms maker and complicity in Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The company’s offices have also been targeted in England, the US, Germany and Portugal. DSV and H Folmer & Co have been contacted for comment.
