Javier Bardem Can’t Believe Penélope Cruz Is Really His Wife
Javier Bardem has been sharing his life with Penélope Cruz for more than 20 years. The couple, who married in an intimate ceremony in 2010 and have two children, rarely talk about their relationship as a couple, but on this occasion, the star of The Good Patron made an exception in an interview with Variety in the lead-up to to the Cannes Film Festival. “She’s a woman I’m so blessed by having had the chance to be at the same time, in the same place, in life,” Bardem told the magazine.Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz have been together for more than 20 years.

It’s been a lot of years, and I haven’t seen a hint of malice in her.”“On top of that, she’s amazingly fucking beautiful!” he went on. “When I see her being photographed on some magazines, I go, Is that my wife? Jesus, is it? It must be!”In Bigas Luna’s 1992 film Jamón jamón, the actors shared the screen for the first time. Later, they both appeared in Pedro Almodóvar’s Carne Trémula ( 1997), though they didn’t share a scene or plotline. It would take another decade before they appeared as lovers in Woody Allen’s Vicky, Cristina, Barcelona and their relationship extended beyond the set. In 2010, they married in Johnny Depp’s Bahamas home and now have two children aged 12 and 15.“I don’t have musts in my contract that have to do with bigger trailers or luxurious suites,” Bardem told Variety. “The only thing I do pay attention to is, no more than two weeks away from my family.” He and Cruz have reunited as actors in Bunker, written and directed by Oscar winner Florian Zeller and shot in Madrid. “You feel like you’re doing a normal job, for once,” Bardem said. “You wake up, you go to work and you come back at night.”
