"He had no intention to kill Ray; he had no intention of murdering anybody because he's not a murderer. But he's just somebody who has, through months and months of abuse, become disconnected with himself."ITVRelated: Emmerdale confirms everyone's worst fears over Dr Todd's next moveRichards suggested that Bear isn't hopeful of things going his way, and is "prepared to spend the rest of his life in prison"."I don't think he thinks he's got a chance, and also, because he's got this misplaced sense of guilt that this is what he deserves, because he has killed somebody, so he should go to prison," he elaborated."He's already said as much, and so he has no positive prospects or outlook going into the trial. He just thinks this is it, pay my dues, do my time. So does he?"However, while his counsellor's testimony works in his favour, Bear is in "a state of shutdown", meaning he fails to register this. "It's been a difficult process," Richards continued. "So him taking on board that somebody's actually standing up for him, I don't think that even registers. He's just in a 'This is it'. Finished. Desperation."Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.Read more Emmerdale spoilers on our dedicated homepageThe new edition of Living Legends, a 100-page all-colour celebration of Sir David Attenborough, is here!
