Japanese Diplomat Worried He Embarrassed Himself In Front Of Kid Rock
WASHINGTON—Mortified at the effect his blundering might have on delicate relations between the two countries, Japanese diplomat Ryuto Tanaka confirmed Thursday that he was worried he had embarrassed himself in front of Kid Rock. “This is a man of great importance in the United States, and I have dishonored myself as well as the Japanese people in his presence,” said Tanaka, adding that perhaps he had committed an unforgivable breach of etiquette by failing to admire Rock’s gold chain or the fur coat the “Bawitdaba” singer wore over his bare chest. “His power is second only to the American president himself, and I fear I have insulted him. Maybe I hesitated too long before taking a swig from his bottle of Red Stag. I may never know, but, regardless, I will be resigning my post immediately and leaving it to my successors to undo the damage. If that is even possible.” Reached for comment, Rock said he had no issues with Tanaka and told reporters he fully expected a Japanese diplomat to be more uptight about statutory rape than he was.
