Walker found dead in Berwyn mountains amid rescue operation
North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) confirmed the tragic disovery was made on Sunday evening.
The rescue team had been contacted by North Wales Police requesting assistance in locating a missing walker in the mountains near Llangollen.
A NEWSAR spokesperson said tonight (Wednesday, April 29): "On Sunday evening we were contacted by North Wales Police requesting our assistance with an overdue walker in the Berwyns.
"The team carried out an extensive search over difficult and steep terrain.
"Sadly, the individual was located by the team and recovered with the utmost care and respect.
"This was a long and challenging operation lasting several hours. As always, it was handled with professionalism, compassion, and determination by all involved."
They added: "A huge thank you to our team members for their efforts, as well as partner agencies who assisted during the search.
"The team finally stood down in the early hours, with many volunteers heading straight back to their day jobs."
