‘It’s never been more needed’ – Mark Gatiss on Brecht’s Hitler satire
It’s rare that theatre is a race against time, but the Royal Shakespeare Company have rushed to the stage a performance of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Bertolt Brecht’s satire of the rise of Hitler.
Mark Gatiss stars as the fuhrer-turned Chicago gangster and vegetable magnate, with alternative rock band Placebo offering a menacing score. They say the play’s warning has never been more needed.
