Family's beloved tabby cat meets terrible end after being abducted by female Amazon driver
An elderly cat ended its days in a horrific fashion after a female Amazon delivery driver abducted him from the driveway of his home. The tabby cat, called Sidney, was snatched by the woman as she delivered a package to Marsha Reeves's home in Kansas City, Missouri, on Monday evening. Reeves, who got Sidney as a kitten, was horrified to realized her beloved cat had vanished - with her blood running cold after she checked a neighbor's doorbell camera. 'But if you look closely, you can see her get out of her van and pick him up,' she told the outlet, she told Fox 4 Kansas City. Sadly, Sidney's friendliness may have contributed to his kidnap, Reeves explained.'He would always hang out on my deck. He was very much a people cat,' Sidney was frail and in the final stages of his life, with Reeves giving him special food and medication to ensure his last days were as comfortable as possible. A female Amazon driver allegedly stole a 16-year-old cat from a Missouri driveway while delivering a package The cat vanished after she drove away and the neighbor's doorbell footage allegedly showed the woman loading up the animal into the van Heartbreakingly, the Amazon driver who snatched Sidney brought him to multiple shelters before dumping him at an animal shelter called KC Pet Project. On seeing how frail he was, staff there euthanized him in a cold clinical room before he could be reunited with the family who loved him. 'We called all of the animal hospitals within a 10-mile radius…and found out that this girl had taken him to Grandview Animal Hospital on Tuesday, the day after she catnapped him,' she told the outlet. 'They did not feel they could help him and directed her to Wayside Waifs.' After visiting Wayside, she was directed to Belton Animal Control, and eventually KC Pet Project. The vet there had determined the old cat was too frail and euthanasia was best. The family was stripped of their last moment to say goodbye. 'I cannot even imagine what he was thinking,' Reeves told Fox 4 Kansas City. Sidney was on his last leg of life and the family was preparing for his death. Marsha Reeves has had the pet since he was born. He was later euthanized by a vet after being stolen before the family could find him Sidney was on special medication and a special diet when he was stolen Reeves wants Amazon to reprimand the driver. 'I think Amazon needs to be held accountable,' she said 'He did not deserve to die on a metal table with strangers poking him; he should have been at home in my arms when he took his last breath.' The family has made a report with the Kansas City Police Department, and they are hoping Amazon reprimands the woman. 'She needs to come with a supervisor and face me and my family members, who this has affected,' Reeves said. 'I think Amazon needs to be held accountable. I think this young woman needs to be held accountable.' Amazon told the Daily Mail: 'We’re looking into it.'
