100,000 health workers to be recruited soon: Minister of Health and Family Welfare
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain assured the public on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, that there is an ample stock of measles vaccines to last for the next year despite a recent surge in cases.
Speaking at the signing ceremony for a Bangladesh-China Joint Surgical Clinic, the Minister also announced the recruitment of 100,000 healthcare workers to address manpower shortages and the deployment of 10 armed Ansar members at each upazila hospital for doctor security.
Amidst reports of over 25,000 children showing measles symptoms since mid-March, the government is collaborating with China to launch mobile medical units and surgical clinics, prioritizing the control of non-communicable diseases and grassroots healthcare development.
