'My beautiful baby' -- Irish councillor devastated as daughter killed in car crash

A County Down councilllor has led tributes following the tragic death of his daughter. Aoife Tinnelly, 24, died in a two-car collision which occurred in the Kilkeel area on Monday evening. Sinn Féin’s Cathy Mason wrote: ‘I’m so sorry Jarlath, I know there will be no words to ease the pain. ‘You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. RIP Aoife.’ The collision, which occured between a blue Mercedes-Benz and a white Audi A1, happened shortly before 6.30pm on Monday, April 20, on the Newry Road. A PSNI spokesperson told Belfast Live that enquiries were continuing. They said: ‘Our enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnesses the collision, or to anyone who may have CCTV, dash-cam or other footage that could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 1288 20/04/26.’
