Detector dogs help Revenue seize €156,000 of drugs, counterfeit clothing and more
Revenue officers have seized contraband with an estimated value of over €156,000 in various operations in Dublin, the Midlands, and Rosslare Europort.The seizure took place over the course of a week. The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, with some drug seizures made with the help of detector dogs.Included in the Revenue seizures were 18.3kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €37,100, 3.2kg of cannabis resin, with an estimated value of €19,50 and various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of almost €8,800.The herbal cannabis and illicit drug seizures were made as a result of risk profiling and with the assistance of detector dogs Sam, Ciara and Mollaith. The parcels originated from the USA, the UK, Canada, Thailand, the Netherlands, France and Spain, and were destined for various addresses nationwide.The various illicit drugs consisted of butane honey oil, cannabis oil, edibles, heroin, MDMA, synthetic cannabinoids, assorted tablets, cannabinoid vape liquids, khat, CBD Isolotate containing THC, 4-Methylethcathinone, and psilocybe truffles.As well as the drug seizures, over 1250 litres of alcohol, with an estimated value of over €35,100 and representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €26,600, and tobacco products with an estimated value of over €10,500 representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €8,100 were found.113 counterfeit items, with an estimated value of over €43,000, were also seized.The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights.The counterfeit goods were branded Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, Hugo Boss, Adidas, Moncler, Stone Island, Dior, Casablanca, Hermes, Christian Dior, Burberry, Polo, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Canada Goose, Alexander McQueen, AMI, Asics, Birkenstock, Coach, Chloe, Arami, Castore, Chanel, Essentials, Corteiz, Louis Vuitton, Lacoste, New Balance, On Cloud, North Face, NBA, O'Neills, Oakley, Prada, Patagonia, Palm Angel, Under Amour, Versace, Stussy, Salomon, Supreme, White Fox and Umbro.One hundred and seventy-nine weapons accessories were also seized. Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
