'I've visited 200 Chinese takeaways in Ireland – the cheapest is in Blanchardstown'
A man who believes he has visited every Chinese takeaway in Dublin has claimed the cheapest is based in Blanchardstown. The food reviewer, known online as Paul_IsItWorthIt, whose Chinese takeaway tally across the country is over 200, recently went to Yu Hong House in Corduff Shopping Centre. And starting his latest vlog, he said: “Ladies and gentlemen, I think this is the cheapest Chinese takeaway in all of Ireland! I’d be interested to hear if you know of anywhere cheaper, you let us know. But I think this might be the cheapest.”Paul later continued: “I think it is. I’ve done over 200 haven’t I? I’ve done over 200 takeaways to this point.”The content creator, who has a reputation as ‘Ireland’s most honest food reviewer’, got a spice bag, a chicken curry, fried rice, ribs and a free item which was salt and chilli chicken wings. The “feast” of food came to just €20.50 and Paul enthused: “I think that is ridiculously good value!”He then declared it “Dublin’s cheapest Chinese” and it immediately passed the taste test thanks to the “good quality chicken”.Sharing his thoughts, he said: “This is like an old school spice bag. You know all the times I said, 'Why are they all sweet?' This is bringing me back, this. That is lovely.”Cameraman John later said the chicken curry “looked special” before Paul confirmed that the sauce was a standout. And again reflecting on the cost, he said: “Price of this mate, honest to god.”His cameraman replied: “It’s phenomenal. This might be 10 out of 10 on price.”Tucking into the ribs, which he was impressed with the quantity of four, he said: “This is a good old Chinese this. One more bite. Really good. To be honest with you, this is one of my favourite Chinese reveals so far.”On a more negative note, the egg fried rice wasn’t to his standard, and he said the chicken wings were also unspectacular, but he had no issue given it was a free item. And summing up his thoughts before offering his score, he said: “The spice bag is banging. It’s small enough but for the price it’s good. I think the chicken in the spice bag is lovely.“I think the curry sauce is lovely. Fried rice wasn’t for me.”He added: “With all that being said, I would give Yu Young House a 9.2 out of 10. And I think it’s good quality.”After posting the video, which you can watch here in full, one person replied: “That’s insane value. In Kilkenny I’d be paying nearly €40 for that.”A second said: “That’s phenomenal value.”A third cheekily suggested: “Floored by the value.”
