Carla and Lisa's Coronation Street wedding disaster becomes a dream

It’s finally time… (Picture: Danielle Baguley/ITV) It’s taken a long time to get here, hasn’t it, Swarla fans? But the day is finally imminent: Carla Connor (Alison King) and Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) are getting married in Coronation Street. And, I mean, it’s about time, isn’t it? While the girls have faced their fair share of problems since it first became clear that there was more than a friendship building between them, Becky Swain’s (Amy Cudden) return from the grave, or, more accurately, Spain, really kicked off a Hellish period for Carla and Lisa. Determined to reclaim her wife, what started as subtle manipulation eventually gave way to fully-fledged kidnap and a murder plot when Becky left Carla to die in a shipping container, while planning to flee the country with Lisa and their daughter, Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin). All was righted, though, when Carla was rescued and Lisa saw the light, slapping a pair of handcuffs on her evil ex and sending her off for a prolonged stay in the clink. Then they lived happily ever after. Just kidding. Then came Connie. It’s been a bumpy ride for Carla and Lisa (Picture: ITV) The offspring of Carla’s killer brother Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) and prison guard Mandy Waring (Rebecca Atkinson) was dropped on the doorstep, forcing them to have to adjust to life with a screaming new born. With support from friends, family and an increasingly creepy Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown), they managed it, though, and Connie became part of the family. That all changes this week, though, as the rollercoaster of wedding drama begins, and Carla receives a call from a social worker: Connie’s heading back to her grandma’s. It’s difficult all round, as the Connor-Swain residence has grown to love the little cherub. Next come the vows, and while Lisa’s render Betsy a tearful mess, Carla’s not written hers yet and turns to Betsy for help. It’s time to celebrate! (Picture: Danielle Baguley) Next up: the hen-do’s, including Carla’s in which all guests are dressed like the guest of honour – including Roy Cropper (David Neilson). Seriously. We hit a drop next on the rollercoaster, though, when the Chariot Square function room is flooded and left utterly unusable. After Carla’s declaration that she wants a big fancy wedding, Lisa is gutted, though Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) is on hand to remind her that the most important thing in the world is them and their love, not a bougie function room, and our cherished copper begins to form a plot… Don't miss a Soaps scoop!
