Murder probe after death of 82-year-old woman in Glasgow

Around 4am on Saturday, 18 April, 2026, a woman was found injured in Cardowan Road. Emergency services attended, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Police Scotland has now named the victim as 82-year-old Elizabeth Colligan. The incident was being treated as "suspicious", with police confirming a murder investigation is underway on Sunday evening. Detective Inspector Gordon Walker said: “Our thoughts remain with Elizabeth’s family and friends during this very difficult time. We are continuing to offer them our support as the investigation progresses. This includes door to door enquiries in the local area, as well as a detailed review of all available CCTV footage. “We are especially keen to speak with anyone who saw or heard anything around 4am on Saturday, 18 April, 2026.” Chief Inspector Jon Watters said: “We understand that this will be concerning for the local community, and we want to reassure the public that extensive enquiries are underway. "There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, and anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to speak with officers.”  It comes after the police warned the public not to approach a man last seen around the area at the time of the woman's death, warning he is "dangerous". He is described as white, 6ft tall, of slim build, with a shaved head. Detective Superintendent Gary Ferguson said: “Grant is considered to be dangerous and I’m appealing for information from the public to help us trace him as soon as possible. “If anyone sees Grant, they should not approach him but contact police immediately. “Anyone with information on where he may be, or anyone who thinks they’ve seen him since the early hours of Saturday morning, should call 999 urgently quoting reference 0523 of 18 April.
