Four people rescued after small boat catches fire in Dun Laoghaire harbour
Four people were rescued by crews from the Dublin Coastguard after the boat they were on went up in flames off Dun Laoghaire this afternoon (Saturday).
The 11-metre-long vessel with four adults on board was seen to be in distress shortly before 4 o’clock this afternoon, about 2.5km offshore in Dun Laoghaire harbor.
Thick black smoke could be seen pouring from the vessel from several viewing points along the coast from Dublin Bay southwards to Dun Laoghaire.
Dun Laoghaire RNLI were tasked to the scene and brought four adults safely back to shore.
The boat was completely destroyed and sank shortly after the four occupants were rescued.
Reports on TheJournal.ie show thick smoke rising from the small boat as the emergency services race towards the stricken vessel.
