Alleged Irish crime boss Daniel Kinahan arrested in Dubai

The Irish government has thanked the UAE for its help in arresting the alleged leader of one of Ireland’s biggest criminal networks. Daniel Kinahan was arrested in Dubai on Wednesday, days after an Irish court issued a warrant over serious organised crime offences. But the news only emerged yesterday, after a secret operation between Irish and UAE police. We spoke to Irish investigative journalist Nicola Tallant, author of ‘Clash of the Clans: The Rise of the Kinahan Mafia and Boxing’s Dirty Secret’. We began by asking how significant this arrest is. A lawyer for the Kinahans has previously said that rumours and theories about them have not been tested in court.
