LDP and JIP remain divided over revision of Constitution's Article 9
The ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition partner, the Japan Innovation Party, remain divided over how the Constitution's pacifist clause, Article 9, should be revised.On Friday, the two parties kicked off discussions on Article 9 at a joint panel meeting of working-level members tasked with drafting new clauses for a proposed amendment of the Constitution.The LDP's Yoshitaka Shindo said, "We first want to promote talks between our working-level members."
