GB News halted for breaking Starmer news and taxpayers are fuming
GB News was halted for a breaking news update regarding Sir Keir Starmer on Wednesday morning - which left viewers absolutely raging. The channel's political editor, Chris Hope, shared that the UK Prime Minister has "splashed out tens of thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money" as the red breaking banner flashed across the screen.He told presenters Andrew Pierce and Dawn Neesom exactly what the leading Labour politician has been spending money on, as fans watching were furious. The journalist shared that Starmer has reportedly been kitting out his Downing Street flat with household items including a £1,400 bed, a £1,395 TV unit and a £1,630 shower screen. Pierce asked incredulously: "Where do you buy a shower screen that costs £1,630?" Hope replied: "Well, a shower curtain is not good enough, but there are defences, we will come to those." He then continued to reel off other costs as a list appeared on screen, showing that three sofas were bought for £1,480 each, six kitchen chairs at £990 each and many more items adding up to thousands of pounds. Hope explained: "The flat was empty, so the taxpayer paid for all of this, but the cost of living crisis is on. Keir Starmer was very critical of Boris Johnson when he lived in the same flat."That was called 'wallpapergate' at the time. He was very critical." He added: "Number 10 has also told me that Sir Keir Starmer and Victoria, his wife, would have been consulted on this."It's not unusual for the PM's family to be consulted on certain elements, I'm told, of the refurbishment but they won't go into detail. So this list seems like it was approved by them."Commenting on the clip on social media, one fan fumed: "Yet another prime example of this government's hypocrisy. We are all struggling to make ends meet, while Starmer is happily spending taxpayers' cash on very expensive furnishings."This P.M is a multi millionaire, yet we pay for his luxuries? This P.M has the morals of an earthworm."Others pointed out that Prime Ministers are given a £30,000 allowance, but were still angry over the fact that it is allowed at all. One said: "There’s a long-standing public budget for maintaining & furnishing the PM’s official residence. Pathetic."Another added: "This is absolutely crazy, as other replies have said each PM receives an annual allowance of £30,000 to maintain and furnish number 10, anything above that, they have to pay, apart from Boris who gets others to pay!!"Someone else wrote: "I hate Starmer and Labour but this is nothing new. They always spend our money re-doing their residencies up when a new govt takes over. It’s what they all do and are allowed to."However, some people were not bothered at all. "So what?!" one asked. "People in private companies take home more money than our PM...
