Iran: US begins blockade of Strait of Hormuz as oil prices rise
Donald Trump has defended his US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and insisted Iranian leaders wanted to “make a deal, very badly”. He claimed Iran was not doing any business in the Strait and added “we’re going to keep it that way”.
As the price of oil surged past a hundred dollars a barrel, Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK and France would co-host a summit later this week to discuss how to restore shipping through Hormuz.
