OPSO warns residents of potential Bitcoin kiosk scam calls
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a potential scam involving callers who claim people missed a court date,failed to appear for jury duty, or owe money.According to OPSO, scammers are telling victims to go to a Bitcoin kiosk and send money to avoid a warrant being issued. The sheriff’s office notes that this is false.OPSO says scammers may tell people they will be detained if they come to the sheriff’s office to handle the issue in person.
