Masters officials to punish Ryder Cup star after obscene language and gestures caught on camera
The Masters got underway on Thursday, and while everyone loves the grandeur of Augusta National, the famous course has often eaten up and spat out some of the best golfers in the world.
After Round One, stars like Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Rasmus Hojgaard all carded high scores to put their tournament into jeopardy, risking themselves making the cut.
However, one Ryder Cup star truly had a round to forget, one Robert MacIntyre. The Scot came into the tournament expecting to do well, after winning the Players Championship and the Texas Open leading into it.

He started strongly, birdieing third, but from then on, his round descended into chaos and frustration, and the lively MacIntyre made it be known he wasn’t happy with his game.
He bogeyed holes 5 and 6 and scored a double-bogey on 9, but then the par-5 15th hole would be calamitous to his Green Jacket chances. MacIntyre would end up hitting two shots into the water while trying to make the green, and the camera caught him flipping off the hole after finding the water.

He would end up carding a quadruple-bogey 9 on that hole and would finish his day with a round of 80, +8 for the tournament.
MacIntyre hasn’t been shy about cursing, throwing clubs, or venting anger on a golf course before, but at Augusta, where patrons try to uphold the tournament’s highest standards, his behavior hasn’t gone down well. Even more videos came out from MacIntyre’s round, with the cameras picking up his shouting and cursing after some wayward shot.
And now it looks like the Scot could be on the end of disciplinary action from the organisers at the Masters. Augusta National is famed for its strict set of rules, which saw a former Major winner kicked out for using his phone.
It’s unlikely MacIntyre will receive that level of punishment, especially as he is unlikely to reach the weekend. But one thing all golfers and fans know, you don’t mess around with Augusta.
