Teddi Mellencamp 'taking it slow' with new man after finding love during cancer battle

Teddi Mellencamp is "taking it slow" with her new man after finding love during her cancer battle. Teddi Mellencamp is dating again The 44-year-old reality TV star split from her husband Edwin Arroyave - the father of her kids Slate, 13, Cruz, 11, and Dove, six - shortly before she was diagnosed with stage two melanoma in 2022 which later progressed to stage four after spreading to her lungs and brain and she's now revealed she's dating again after striking up a romance with an "older" man. During an appearance on her Two Ts in a Pod podcast, Teddi explained: "We're going to call him Derek. But that's the thing when you're dating and you're both parents. Like, how are you ever supposed to get past first base? I have kids in my house. He has kids in his house. "These are the things that I haven't brought up on these dates. I'm taking it slow with him. Normally that hasn't been my past." Since being diagnosed with cancer, Teddi has undergone multiple surgeries — including the removal of 17 melanoma spots and four brain tumours — and been receiving immunotherapy treatment. Co-host Tamra Judge went on to ask Teddi how her new man is dealing with her cancer treatment and the TV star replied: "He's pretty good about it. He's a relatively positive and logical person in general. He's older than I am. But the thing that I like the most about him is he makes me laugh." Teddi also explained the pair recently went on a date after her latest round of immunotherapy because she felt as if she had "enough energy" but she woke up the following day feeling "like hell". The reality TV star previously admitted she worried her cancer diagnosis was "payback" for the messy way her marriage ended. During an appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, she explained: "I’ve never talked about it [the end of my marriage] at all, just because of the kids, and I’ve never wanted anybody to have a guarantee [of] whether it happened or didn’t happen, but what I can say is: Did I do things that hurt other people? Yes. "To this day, does it still hurt my heart and I wonder if that’s why it got cancer? Yes, like it was my payback. Nothing goes without payment, I guess." Teddi was rumoured to have been unfaithful to her husband during her marriage, and she admitted her mistakes caused a lot of hurt. She went on to say: "Not only do you have yourself, you have your significant other, your kids, the other person’s significant other, their kids. I mean, so many people are hurt in the wreckage. The wreckage doesn’t happen on its own."
