Five arrested in suspected botched burglary after car crash in Dublin with three hospitalised
Stock imageIrish Independent newsdeskYesterday at 21:39Four men and a teen were arrested today following a suspected burglary after crashing into two cars in Dublin.Three members of the public were taken to Tallaght Hospital for assessment following the collision.At around 1:40pm, a car with five occupants failed to stop for Gardaí in the Knocklyon area of Dublin 16.The car was subsequently involved in a collision with two cars driven by members of the public at Grange Road, Rathfarnham.The five occupants of the car fled on foot and were pursued by Gardaí, with the assistance of the Garda Air Support Unit.The occupants of the car were suspected of involvement in a burglary in Walkinstown, Dublin 12 a short time earlier.Today's news in 90 seconds - Thursday, April 2 Five men were subsequently detained at Garda stations in the Dublin Metropolitan Region.Two of the men, one in his 50s and the other a teenager, were arrested under the Theft and Fraud Offences Act and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.The teen has since been released pending further investigations.A third man, aged in his 20s, was arrested on foot of a bench warrant.Two others, aged in their 20s, were detained for the purposes of a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act and subsequently released without charge.All three occupants of the two cars driven by the members of the public were brought to Tallaght Hospital for assessment.Investigations are ongoing.
