Iran war will trigger a global recession, warns economic expert

Britain faces a bigger economic slowdown than any other major country as a result of the war in the Middle East, according to a new global forecast. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) says the UK's economy will grow by just 0.7 per cent this year. It has slashed its 2026 forecast for UK GDP by 0.5 percentage points, the biggest hit for any member of the G7 group of advanced nations, which also includes the US, Canada, Japan, Germany, France and Italy.
