World Indoor Athletics Championships: O'Connor in third after opening pentathlon events
Ireland's Kate O'Connor is in bronze medal position after the opening three events of the pentathlon at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Poland.The silver medallist from last year's championships finished fourth overall in the opening event of the competition - the 60m hurdles - after coming fifth in her heat with a time of 8.23.O'Connor, who also won silver at the World Championships in Tokyo in 2025, cleared 1.81m after two failures in the high jump as she tied for third overall before posting a personal best 14.70m in the shot put.The Newry native is on 2909 points after three events, with Netherlands Sofie Dokter leading the standings on 2943 points and Anna Hall of the USA in second on 2926 points.O'Connor will be back in action from 16:40 GMT in the long jump before the final event - the 800m - at 19:03 GMT.
