GB News issues breaking migrant news alert in new blow to Keir Starmer

GB News presenters Mark White and Ellie Costello halted today's show to deliver a breaking news announcement about the migrant crisis as three boats containing illegal migrants attempted to reach the UK via the English Channel. As the breaking news banner flashed at the bottom of the screen, Costello shared: "We got some breaking news from The Channel in the past few minutes, haven't we, Mark?"White said: "I've just spoken to our producer, Chris, down in Kent, who now confirms that two boats have gone to three boats, and three migrant boats, currently in the water, are attempting to reach the UK. There are potentially a couple of hundred illegals crossing the English Channel."Under Labour's migrant trading deal, which came into force last August, any adult migrant who crossed the Channel is at risk of return to France if their claim for asylum is considered inadmissible.White then explained that two Border Force vessels are out in the middle of the Channel waiting for them to make the line "much to people's irritation".White added: "They get picked up, and they get taken to the port of Dover and returned to France."Costello interjected: "So in a run of five days of good weather, we can expect to see hundreds, potentially thousands?"White replied: "You'll remember eight or nine days ago we had a run of six days of good weather, and in that time 1,200 migrants crossed. So this time of year, to be getting such large numbers, it doesn't bode well for what we are likely to see for the rest of the year."According to Migration Watch UK, more than 2,200 migrants have crossed the English Channel as of mid-March 2026.GB News viewers took to Twitter to comment on the update, with one writing: "Three boats already? Time to call the Navy – not the Border Farce!"A second added: "I’d say put the Navy in the Channel but I doubt we have the capacity after years of underfunding and mismanagement."A third added: "This is all being allowed to continue on purpose. The main question is...why?"Someone else said: "In other news we have a chronic housing shortage, it’s impossible to see a GP, and meningitis is rife. None of this is linked to the daily invasion we see from undocumented fighting age young men. Nope."
