Huge turnout for property marking event held by Longford Gardaí
There was a “huge turn out” in Killashee last Saturday March 14 for a free property marking event hosted by Longford Community Gardaí in conjunction with the Longford Community Safety Partnership.

As part of the property marking event and crime prevention advice day, which took place in St Brigid's, Killashee GAA, members of the public were invited to bring along any item of property for Gardaí to engrave.

Property marking involves engraving the owner’s Eircode onto valuable farm machinery, general equipment, and other valuable items using a specialist machine.

The marking adds another barrier as it makes it difficult for stolen items to be resold.

Property marking is also an effective method to help Gardaí identify and return stolen items recovered.
Attendees arrived at the property marking event and crime prevention advice day with various equipment such as trailers, farm equipment, quads, power washers, generators, boats and much more.
The next property marking event and crime prevention advice day will take place next month on Saturday April 18.
