Total Hair Restoration eyeing UK after €1m investment

Total Hair Restoration has invested approximately €1m in the business since opening its first clinic in Malahide a year ago and is planning to enter the UK market by the end of the year. The company, which is led by experienced businessman Mike Malone, has seen rapid growth and will increase its headcount in addition expanding across the island of Ireland and into Britain in 2026. Total Hair Restoration offers hair restoration and loss management treatments on an "affordable fixed cost" basis as well as a comprehensive aftercare programme. Its business model aims to make hair loss solutions affordable. To date, it has completed over 150 hair restoration procedures with month-to-month double-digit growth. The procedure costs a total of €6,495, less than half the current industry average, and it has 0% APR plans available with payments as low as €163 per month. The company intends to provide a better-quality alternative to clinics in Turkey, which are cheaper but offer "lower quality procedures and no aftercare". The initial consultation is free, and hundreds of clients have attended the clinic for alternative services such as platelet-rich plasma injections. In addition to the Malahide clinic, Total Hair Restoration has started satellite clinics in Galway and Cork, and its Limerick and Belfast sites are due to open soon. The first British clinic is expected to open by year-end. Malone himself had hair restoration treatment in Turkey several years ago, and found the experience to be "lacking in every aspect," leading him to establish the business. He has over 15 years' experience in the healthcare industry and has held roles with Centric Health, Neuromod, and Renew Health in addition to launching Ireland’s first dermatology telemedicine clinic 13 years ago. Malone is also a shareholder and on the management team of Optiman Clinic, Ireland’s only dedicated men’s health clinic. “Having personally had hair restoration treatment I can attest to the positive impact the results can have on confidence. However, the experience in most overseas clinics and certain Irish clinics is lacking in quality, transparency, aftercare and ensuring the client is the top priority," he said. "Having researched the industry, I felt confident we could bring an offering to market that not only focuses on quality but at a fair price, and Total Hair Restoration was born. I see immense potential in the business, as we don’t just offer hair restoration procedures but also non-surgical solutions. "We’re focused on offering a full 360 service for anyone experiencing hair loss while allowing clients to come to us and not have to worry about extortionate costs. We are creating accessibility and decreasing stigma around hair loss. "Our doors have only been open a few short months and we have had such incredible appetite for the service, a lot of which is coming through recommendations from satisfied patients, so it’s clear our straight-talking approach is what patients want." Phillip McGlade, CEO of Thérapie Clinic, Optilase and Thérapie Fertility owner Thérapie Medical, is also a shareholder. Mike Malone, founder of Total Hair Restoration. “There is a huge opportunity for Mike and the incredible team at Total Hair Restoration in the European market. I’m excited to be involved on a strategic level, offering valuable experience in growing a brand from the ground up," said McGlade. "There is massive consumer interest in hair restoration procedures, now more than ever before, so I’m confident that the business model that Mike has developed will be very successful.” Photo: Mike Malone.
