Staycity to take lease on a Ronan Group aparthotel in Dublin docklands

The proposed Johnny Ronan developmentJohnny Ronan’s property development group has signed up Ireland’s biggest hospitality provider, Staycity Group, to take a lease on a new aparthotel on Dublin’s north docklands. Ronan Group says it will shortly submit a planning application for the new 288‑room scheme to Dublin City Council and is expecting a decision by the second quarter of this year.To be branded under Staycity’s upmarket Wilde portfolio, it will be located at Ronan Group’s 4.6‑acre Waterfront South Central (WSC), near the 3 Arena.Last year Ronan Group received planning permission for a landmark 25-storey block to form the centrepiece of the mixed-use WSC development to sit alongside the new nine-storey European headquarters that Ronan Group is building for global banking giant Citi at North Wall Quay.At 83.6 metres tall, that 25-storey block will be the city’s tallest as it will surpass the 82 metres at Marlet’s 22-storey College Square office and apartment scheme in Dublin city centre. On the WSC site, the new Wilde aparthotel will rise to eight storeys.WSC will also accommodate other substantial commercial buildings and 550 residential units.Staycity Group is Europe’s largest and fastest‑growing aparthotel operator, with 6,500 apartments in 40 aparthotels across 20 cities and has been expanding rapidly across Europe.Following the sale of Dalata last year, Staycity is the largest Irish-owned hospitality accommodation provider.Dublin-based Staycity Group was established in 2004 by CEO and co-founder Tom Walsh. The WSC aparthotel will be the group’s first Wilde-branded facility in Ireland and the company describes its Wilde brand as combining “boutique design with the flexibility and amenities of apartment‑style accommodation, appealing to both corporate travellers and extended‑stay guests”.Since its launch in London’s Covent Garden in 2018, Wilde has opened in Berlin, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London, Manchester and Vienna. Further openings will follow in Amsterdam and Porto.Johnny Ronan’s son, James Ronan, director at Ronan Group, said: “We are delighted to partner with Staycity to bring the Wilde brand to Ireland for the first time. This 288‑room aparthotel will make a significant contribution to the North Docklands urban district and reinforce the mixed‑use vibrancy of Ronan Group’s Waterfront development. This long‑term agreement reflects our confidence in both Staycity and the future of the North Docklands as a major business and lifestyle hub. We look forward to progressing the planning application in the coming days.”
