Brazen 4am graffiti attack hits trains in Athlone as gardai probe 'unusual activity'
Gardai are investigating a serious early morning graffiti attack on trains in Co Westmeath.The incident took place at Athlone Train Station between 4am and 6am this morning, when three parked train carriages were damaged with graffiti.Officers have described the incident as "serious criminal damage" and want to speak with anyone who may have "have seen anything unusual" during the early hours.They are also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a serious incident of criminal damage in Athlone, Co. Westmeath during the early hours of Saturday 7th March 2026."Three train carriages were damaged with graffiti while parked in Athlone Train Station between 4:00am and 6:00am on Saturday 7th March."Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.
