The 8 Most Anticipated New Shows on Netflix in March

February was rough, y’all. It’s not that all the TV was bad — our No. 1 pick from last month, “How to Get to Heaven From Belfast,” turned out quite well — it’s just that there weren’t enough highlights to override the lows. “The ‘Burbs,” “Love Story,” and “Paradise” Season 2 all fell short of their respective expectations, while Netflix’s admittedly low-key month required a bit of digging in between “Bridgerton” releases. “Strip Law”? Solid! Beyond that… uh, “The Night Agent” maybe? Well, things are picking up again in March. Not only is Netflix leaning into more live TV offerings (and more respectable live TV offerings than “Watch This Guy Climb a Building” and “Watch These Two Random Dumb-Dumbs Hurt Each Other”), it’s dropping a few intriguing experiments, the next project from “Stranger Things” producers, The Duffer Brothers, and one new program featuring Rachel Weisz, who’s pretty much event TV all on her own. In fact, there’s enough noteworthy TV on Netflix in March that I couldn’t fit all of it onto the list below — even after adding an eighth title! Sorry, “Sesame Street”: I hope parents and kids already know Volume 2 is rolling into their neighborhood March 9. I’m also trusting the “Love Is Blind” fanatics are aware the reunion episode and a Swedish edition are ready for viewing this month. The acquisition titles are also fairly sturdy, with the final season of “The Conners,” all six seasons of “Mike & Molly,” and the last (supposedly) “Downton Abbey” movie all headed to Netflix in March. Toss in “Virgin River,” “The Man in High Castle” (yes, the Prime Video original series), and another “Untold” documentary, and the “Rest of Incoming TV” section may be worth a closer look than usual. But now it’s time for the main events. The best of the best. The Netflix shows that should have everyone talking — or, at the very least, the ones most worthy of your hard-earned time off. Will any of them be talked about come Emmy season? Probably not. But with The Actor Awards and MLB’s Opening Day, Netflix on March is guaranteed a few historic moments. ‘Vladimir’ Image Credit: Courtesy of Netflix Release Date: Thursday, March 5Creator/Showrunner: Julia May JonasDirectors: Shari Springer Bermanand Robert PulciniCast: Rachel Weisz, Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Jessica Henwick, Ellen Robertson, Kayli Carter, Miriam Silverman, Mallori Johnson, Matt Walsh, Tattiawna Jones, Louise LambertSynopsis: “When a passionate but reckless professor’s world begins to unravel, she finds herself dangerously fixated on her magnetic new colleague. Seduction and obsession collide in ‘Vladimir’ — a provocative limited series brimming with forbidden desires, razor-sharp wit, and charismatic, unpredictable characters. As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life.”Best Reason to Watch: It’s hard to top Rachel Weisz, an actress who’s almost always the best reason to watch anything she’s in, but Julie May Jonas’ book is exceptional. It challenges the reader with an unreliable narrator, pushing against predetermined ideas regarding the central story — her husband is accused of sexual impropriety with students, right when she starts lusting after a hot young professor herself. It’s smart, studied, and sturdy. Here’s hoping the same can be said for the series, which Jonas adapted herself. ‘Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen’ Image Credit: Courtesy of Netflix Release Date: Thursday, March 26Creator/Showrunner: Haley Z. BostonCast: Jennifer Jason Leigh, Adam DiMarco, Camila Morrone, Ted Levine, Gus Birney, Jeff Wilbusch, Karla CromeSynopsis: “’Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen’ is an atmospheric horror series set at a wedding, following a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ill-fated nuptials. That’s not a spoiler — just read the title.”Best Reason to Watch: A new horror series produced by the Duffer Brothers? Well, you gotta find out if they can keep their hot streak going after “Stranger Things.” ‘One Piece’ Season 2 Image Credit: Courtesy of Netflix Release Date: Tuesday, March 10Showrunners: Matt Owens, Joseph E. TraczCast: Iñaki Godoy, Emily Rudd, Mackenyu, Jacob Gibson, Taz Skylar, Vincent Regan, Jeff Ward, Morgan Davies, Mikaela Hoover, Callum Kerr, Julia Rehwald, James Hiroyuki Liao, Rigo Sanchez, Clive Russell, Charithra Chandran, Yonda Thomas, Camrus Johnson, Lera Abova, Werner Coetser, David Dastmalchian, Sophia Anne Caruso, Katey Sagal, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Joe ManganielloSynopsis: “Netflix’s epic high-seas pirate adventure returns, unleashing fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet. Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world’s greatest treasure, they’ll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies.”Best Reason to Watch: Did you like Season 1? Do you like knowing a show is going to last before committing? Either way, “One Piece” has you covered — Season 1 had its fans, and Netflix already picked up the live-action adaptation for a third season. Settle in and enjoy. ‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man’ Image Credit: Courtesy of Netflix Release Date: Friday, March 20Director: Tom HarperWriter: Steven KnightCast: Cillian Murphy, Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Tim Roth, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, Ian PeckSynopsis: “Birmingham, 1940. With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons, and choose whether to confront his legacy, or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…”Best Reason to Watch: You liked the show! Duh! (Yes, I know this is a movie, but it’s grandfathered into this TV list because it would’ve never existed without the preceding six seasons.) The Actor Awards Image Credit: Los Angeles Times via Getty Images Release Date: Sunday, March 1 at 8 p.m. ET (live)Host: Kristen BellSynopsis: “The biggest names in film and television light up the stage for the 32nd annual Actors Awards live from Los Angeles.”Best Reason to Watch: Can Timothée Chalamet triumph over Leonardo DiCaprio? Who will take the pole position in the Supporting Actor and Actress races? Can “Pluribus” start building momentum for an Emmys run? If any of these questions are relevant to you, then you may want to tune in. ‘The Dinosaurs’ Image Credit: Courtesy of Netflix Release Date: Friday, March 6Creator: David FowlerExecutive Producers: Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Keith ScholeyCast: Morgan Freeman (narrator)Synopsis: “From the creators of ‘Life on Our Planet,’ this new documentary series will tell the story of the rise and fall of the dinosaurs — where they came from, why they mattered, how they evolved and how they met their ultimate fate.”Best Reason to Watch: Do you like nature documentaries? Do you wish filmmakers could travel back in time to make one about the dinosaurs? Well, this is as close as a show can get to doing that for ya. The dinos are even made by Industrial Light & Magic! ‘Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole’ Image Credit: Courtesy of Netflix Release Date: Thursday, March 26Creator/Showrunner: Jo NesbøCast: Tobias Santelmann, Pia Tjelta, Joel Kinnaman, Danielsen Lie, Dahl Torp, Dagny, as well as Peter Stormare, Anders Baasmo, Kåre Conradi, Simon J. BergerSynopsis: “Created by one of the greatest storytellers in crime fiction, ‘Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole’ is a whodunnit serial killer mystery led by famed antihero Harry Hole. Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers — and supposed colleagues — operating on opposite sides of the law. Throughout the first season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler. Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”Best Reason to Watch: To see what’s behind all. Those. Jokes. (And to erase “The Snowman” from your brain.) MLB Opening Night: Yankees vs. Giants Image Credit: Courtesy of Masato Onoda / PMC Release Date: Wednesday, March 25 at 8:05 p.m. ET (live)Synopsis: “The 2026 Major League Baseball season leads off on Netflix, with Yankees vs. Giants in a star-studded opener live at Oracle Park in San Francisco.”Best Reason to Watch: You know what this is, so I’m not going to sell you on it. Consider this further evidence of Netflix’s continued push to become cable: another live event, another big investment in professional sports, another subscription fee to pay if you want to watch all the big baseball games.
