More rain on the way as Met Éireann issues fresh weather warnings

Met Éireann has issued two status yellow weather warnings for five counties with more heavy rain on the way.The first warning, for Cork, Kerry, Galway, and Mayo, has been in place since midnight and will remain in place until midnight on Monday.A second status yellow rain warning for Waterford will be in place from midday on Sunday and will remain in place for 12 hours."Spells of heavy rain" will lead to localised flooding, poor visibility, and hazardous travelling conditions in the five affected counties, the forecaster warned.More generally, Met Éireann said that Sunday's weather will become "windier through the day, and the rain will turn heavier for southern and western counties with spot flooding possible later".  On Monday, any lingering cloud and patchy rain in the east will clear early on, "with a largely dry and bright start elsewhere".There will be some showers, which will ease as they move southeastwards with dry and sunny conditions following later in the afternoon.Monday night will see "long clear spells" leaving a cold and dry night, with temperatures falling to lows of 0C to 4C.Met Éireann said the upcoming week will see high pressure becoming more dominant, bringing dry and bright conditions overall. However, a spell of wetter weather is likely on Thursday. Temperatures close to or slightly above average, but cold at night with some frost and ice.Tuesday will be a dry day with good spells of sunshine and temperatures reaching highs of 12C. By the time night falls, it will be cold and dry with long clear spells, though "there is the chance of some cloudier conditions in the south east with the odd spot of light rain or drizzle," Met Éireann said.
