Kanye West Mansion Trial Reveals He Allegedly Removed Toilets in Favor of Holes in the Ground
The artist formerly known as Kanye West is currently embroiled in a trial over the Tadao Ando–designed home that the rapper famously destroyed. In 2021, Ye purchased the Malibu mansion for $57.3 million, and that same year, Ye’s now-wife, Bianca Censori, hired the plaintiff, Tony Saxon, to work on the home. Ye was still legally married to Kim Kardashian at the time. Two years later, in 2023, Saxon filed a lawsuit against Ye, claiming he was injured during the project, while Ye’s legal team contends that Saxon “destroyed” the mansion. Now, as the trial is underway, new details have emerged about what exactly was going on at the Malibu property, including the toilets, per Rolling Stone.Saxon claimed that he was told to “hollow out” the home so that West could transform it into an “off-the-grid-shelter,” Saxon’s lawyer, Ron Zambrano, said. Ye apparently also wanted certain parts of the mansion to be dismantled, including the electrical outlets, wiring, jacuzzi, fireplaces, plumbing, and toilets.“He wanted no toilets. If people had to go No. 2, it was a hole in the ground,” Zambrano said, according to the publication.Saxon was eventually fired after revealing he was concerned about the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. He now alleges that Ye still owes him $75,000 and that he endured lifelong injuries during the job.Kanye’s team sees things differently, contending that, as an independent contractor, Saxon was paid over $240,000 and that he operated without a license. Ye’s attorney, Andrew Cherkasky, said that Saxon was hired to do “renovation prep work” but that he instead “destroyed the Ando house.”As for the toilets, according to Cherkasky, West didn’t know about them.“It was Saxon who set for himself an impossible standard. He wanted to work 24/7. He wanted to camp at the house. He wanted to be the guy in charge. Ye will tell you he was shocked hearing there was no bathroom there,” Cherkasky said. “Nobody asked [Saxon] to stay there, certainly not overnight. He also explained that there is “not a single medical record” to substantiate Saxon’s injuries.
