New headquarters for Dublin City Council to cost over €670m
A new headquarters for Dublin City Council is expected to cost more than €670 million.
The local authority plans to move to the old DIT site on Kevin Street, with the deal expected to go through within weeks.
Dublin City Council currently operates from Wood Quay beside the River Liffey, but plans to move to Kevin Street, taking over the former DIT campus.
It is currently a derelict site and includes a partially built office block. It is expected to cost €90 million.
According to The Irish Times, another €581 million will be spent creating office space for 4,000 council staff and building 299 apartments.
More than 530 apartments will replace the Wood Quay base, with the move expected to happen within the next three years.
