New £400,000 grant scheme to support Wolverhampton businesses
The council said the money could be used to help improve visual appearance, safety and customer service experience to boost local spend.The grants were subject to availability of funds and distributed at the discretion of the council, a spokesperson added.Councillor Chris Burden, cabinet member for city development, jobs and skills, said demand would be high and urged eligible businesses to apply as soon as possible."The aim of this grant scheme is to build on the major investment currently being delivered across our urban centres," Burden explained."This further support for our high street retailers and businesses gives them the opportunity to secure funding that will enable them to thrive and boost the local economy."Applications will be considered as they are received, with the scheme set to close once all the funding is allocated.
