The DCU’s Official Wonder Woman Update Confirms A Key Part Of The Franchise's Plan
The latest update about the DC Universe's plans for Wonder Woman and the prequel project tied to the hero confirm a vital part of the franchise's plan looks to be still going forward. With the DC Universe timeline only just properly kicking off last year, there's still much to see regarding how the franchise's first years will unfold. This is perhaps most pressing when it comes to what films and shows will release during this time, since these initial installments will play a truly vital role in establishing the world and lore of the DCU, and in terms of setting up what's to come next for the franchise. Excitingly, one of the latest updates about the DCU further solidifies the idea that the franchise's trajectory is setting up to bring DC's three biggest heroes on-screen together sooner rather than later.

Rumors and reports recently emerged suggesting that the DC Universe Wonder Woman prequel Paradise Lost - which is set to focus around the hero's birthplace of Themyscira - would be canceled, leading DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn to address the Wonder Woman rumors on social media. On Threads, Gunn confirmed Paradise Lost was still an active project, stating that it was "definitely not" a canceled release, and that the rumors its fate had changed were "insanely wrong". This is promising not only in that it reaffirms Paradise Lost is on the way, but also in that the news reaffirms that DC's biggest heroes - the trio of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, often referred to as DC's "trinity" - all still have their introductory releases either actively released or teed up for the first stage of the DCU, thanks to the 2025 debut of Superman, and the impending releases of The Brave & The Bold and Paradise Lost.

While the DCEU did provide us with a look at what interactions between a live-action Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman would look like, the franchise only got to do this in a relatively brief sense, meaning it didn't have time to adapt much of what makes these three heroes so interesting to see together on the inked pages of their shared comic history.
As such, the fact the DC Universe appears to be setting up to bring these three into its universe this early - and without any seeming plans for its own version of the Justice League to form anytime soon - is all the more interesting, since the DC Universe may be able to tap into a major part of the comics that has much room for exploration on-screen, and could make many fan dreams come true.
