New Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Finally Gives Fan-Favorite Character A Glow-Up

Baldur's Gate 3 is all about overcoming trials, and no character represents this better than Barcus Wroot. After embarking on a search for his friend Wulbren Bongle, this hapless deep gnome suffers every manner of insult, and the party's intervention is necessary to stop him from dying over the course of the story. Even worse, Wulbren Bongle turns out to be a total jerk, leaving Barcus's noble efforts unappreciated. Nexus Mods user whatsontheflip is clearly one of Barcus's many fans, as they dropped a mod this week that adds a variety of new outfits for Barcus throughout the course of the game. Barcus starts with a similar outfit when he first appears strapped to a windmill, but each subsequent appearance now comes with a new look. Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Gives Barcus Wroot A Full Closet The Height Of Faerûn Fashion Barcus Wroot looking anxious in Baldur's Gate 3. The Barcus Wroot - Dynamic Appearances mod doesn't exactly spare Barcus from any of his many indignities, but it does allow him to face them with style. Like most Baldur's Gate 3 NPCs, Barcus's appearance remains fairly static throughout the unmodded game. In the mod description, whatsontheflip notes that he only shakes it up at Rivington, so the total of eight different outfits added in the mod make a big difference. In addition to the outfit changes, Barcus also swaps between weapons in the mod. He receives the same pickaxe as before at Grymforge, but later appearances bestow him with war picks and hammers. The average Baldur's Gate 3 party constantly changes its style with new gear, so letting Barcus do the same is ultimately just a way of spreading the love. Whatsontheflip has taken care to stick to looks that "would be in-character for Barcus to wear," so there's nothing immersion-breaking about any of the new outfits. Most importantly, letting Barcus become a model is a nice way to stick it to the despicable Wulbren Bongle, who receives no such blessings in the mod. He might not show it on the surface, but there's no way that Wulbren won't feel a bit abashed when Barcus is mogging him at every turn. Barcus Wroot - Dynamic Appearances is far from whatsontheflip's first Baldur's Gate 3 mod, and those looking to turn the game into a runway might want to have a look through the rest. From Ravengard Restyled to Volo Wears Camp Clothes, plenty of NPCs have been on the receiving end of fashion upgrades. None, however, have been quite as thoroughly deserving as Baldur's Gate 3's beloved Barcus Wroot.
