'A death sentence': Jimmy Lai's son reacts to news of father's prison term
Jimmy Lai has been found guilty of two counts of conspiracy to collude with foreign forces and one count of publishing seditious materials in December last year. He has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
His son, Sebastien Lai told Sky News the prison sentence is "essentially a death sentence" as "given his health, he would most likely die in prison".
"If more isn't done to fight for his release, he will very likely die in prison. He's got heart issues, he's got diabetes, the last five years he's been kept in solitary confinement. These are inhumane conditions for any prisoner and he is 78".
