‘Unimaginable loss’: MP pays tribute as police locate body in search for missing mother-of-two
Caitlin Green (24) was last seen around 12.30pm on Saturday January 31 after leaving a friend’s home in the Derry Street/Lord Lurgan Park area of Lurgan.Police had on Friday issued an appeal for help in finding Ms Green, urging the public to check privately-owned sheds or outbuildings in a number of named areas close to where she was last seen.In an update issued on Saturday, the PSNI confirmed they had located a body during the search."Police can confirm that the body of a woman has been located in the Princes Street area of Lurgan this afternoon, Saturday February 7,” said a spokesperson."Whilst formal identification has not taken place, the family of Caitlin Green, who has been missing since Saturday afternoon, January 31 has been informed.”Ms Green’s mother Stephanie had previously appealed to the public for help in locating her, saying she had not been in contact with the family since Friday January 30.News Catch Up - Friday 6 February A public search for Ms Green had also previously been carried out in the Gilford area, with Search and Rescue and K9 teams deployed alongside volunteers.Ulster Unionist MLA Doug Beattie said the discovery of a body was “terrible news”."Although the identity of the body has yet to be confirmed, my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected,” said the Upper Bann representative.DUP MP Carla Lockhart said Ms Green’s family were facing an “unimaginable loss”."Our thoughts and prayers are with Caitlin’s family, her friends, and especially her children at this incredibly difficult time.
