Andrew Trimble opens up about his most severe injury yet
Former international rugby star Andrew Trimble has detailed his embarrassment after picking up an injury he reckons is worse than anything from his professional sporting career.
The former rugby union player played for Ulster, and also represented Ireland at international level.
The now 41-year-old had 70 appearances for Ireland from 2005 to 2017, when he ultimately hung up his boots.

While not playing professionally anymore, Andrew still dabbles in the sport and participates in an annual tournament of sorts in Dubai, along with his former school pals.
Appearing on Ireland AM on Monday morning, Andrew revealed his most recent trip to Dubai resulted in him breaking his ankle.
Admitting it was ‘time to move on with your life,’ Andrew detailed his embarrassment at picking up the injury late in life.

‘It’s usually perfect,’ he confirmed, ‘It’s a bit of a giggle, good craic, catch up with a few guys from school.
‘It’s an over 35s thing, so everybody’s fat, slow, no one can catch or pass. Ideal.’

‘How did you break it?’ Tommy followed up, with Andrew sharing that it happened ‘just two minutes’ into the first game.
‘I caught this ball and I just went past this way, and got hit this way by some old lad,’ he shared, ‘Just a lot of weight went through my shin and my foot, like, dislocated.
‘It was pointing sideways!’
Andrew added that his ‘life flashed before my eyes’ as he noted it was way worse an injury than he had ever picked up playing ‘proper rugby.’
The admission left Tommy confirming that he had never dipped his toes back into playing rugby following his retirement for that very reason.
‘I don’t think I could face picking up a nasty injury,’ he admitted.
Andrew concluded that he was ‘fine now’ but said it had been a ‘miserable [time] for a few weeks.’
