New York Magazine has a new profile out on Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), and there are some pretty interesting nuggets in there, like “Mace’s use of her House office staff for campaign purposes” potentially leading to a formal investigation from the House Ethics Committee.

Forcing Staffers to Vote for Her in Hot Lawmaker Reddit Forums
Mace was so “obsessed” with monitoring her online reputation that she “instructed” one staffer to “go on Reddit forums about the ‘hottest women in Congress’ to boost her standing in the rankings and comment where needed.” That added some sizzle to a Wired report last year about Mace making staffers create burner accounts to pump her up on Reddit.
A former staffer told New York that Mace was “very adamant” about having her main Reddit-focused staffer “upvote any posts about the congresswoman and her attractiveness.”
She Made Staffers Go on Liquor Runs
Mace would “command” staffers to “bring her liquor after midnight to keep parties going at her home” during her first term, which started in early 2021.
Lahut notes that is “technically an abuse of her office according to House rules.” One unnamed ex-staffer said Mace would make her “poor scheduler” go out and buy bottles of tequila at 2:00 a.m.
Staffers Were Tasked With Cleaning Her Airbnbs
Lahut cheekily wrote that when staffers “weren’t buying booze for her, they were doing her housework.” That included making aides “clean multiple properties” that she had on Airbnb, rather than paying for maids. One former staffer remembered one clean up job in particular — on Election Night 2022, when Mace made aides clean up her $3.9 million South Carolina beach home for a watch party.
Mace ‘Torched’ Her Relationship With Trump Over Epstein Files
The congresswoman wrecked her once-warm relationship with President Donald Trump by voting in favor of releasing more files on dead sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein. Trump was calling her in November to change her mind, Lahut reported, but she ended up voting in favor of their release along with 426 of her colleagues.
That vote made the odds of Trump endorsing her bid to become South Carolina’s next governor fall to “nearly zero,” according to sources close to her. One source said Mace knows she “probably lost the president’s endorsement” based on the Epstein vote.
Ex-Staffers Are Worried About Her
Former staffers said their concern for Mace has “escalated” after she broke up with her ex-fiancé Patrick Bryant. Mace has accused Bryant of beating her, covertly filming her, and conspiring to drug, rape and film other women.
She publicly called him out during a speech in the House last year where Mace showed nude pictures of herself that she said Bryant took without her knowledge. “Staffers didn’t know what to make of Mace continuing to use her committee and her office to go after Bryant,” the article said on Monday.
